This year has been filled with awesomeness. This post is going to be more for me, so that I do not forget the things that Brody has done this year:

*Potty trained before his 3rd birthday.
*First trip to the beach.
*40lbs at his last doctor visit.
*Plays all sorts of sports. He picks up on anything athletic that you put in front of him. He got a bike from Santa, and is riding it like he has been for years.
*Likes to pretend that he is some of the ballplayers that he sees like #22 Gabe Lowrance and #18 Conner Verdell for football, and Grady Stafford for basketball.
*LOVES to play church. His favorite songs are "There's a fountain free"; "Beautiful Star of Bethleham". He always wants to know who is doing the preaching, who is leading singing and who is saying the prayer.
*Brody started playing T-ball. His team was the Little Taters and the other team was the Tater Tots.
*He started reading some words this year
*Brody had his tonsils out this year.
*Brody loves to watch the Biggest Loser. He ever asked me while watching Dancing with the stars when are they going to weigh.
*Brody started swimming in the shallow end without floaties.

Nashville Adventure

These are some pictures of our Nashville trip back in February. Bryan attended a conference at the Opryland Hotel, and we were blessed to be able to go with him. Brody and I hardly left the hotel. There are so many things to do and see. We were also able to see some great friends that we have not seen in way too long. It was so special to be able to see them and spend some time with them.

The Duh Moments of God

I know. Two blog posts in one week. I was thinking of waiting to post this until next week, but wanted to go ahead and share this.
Have you ever had one of those moments where you stop and look up to heaven and say, "Ok, I've got it now." I had one of those about a week ago. I called it my Duh moment of God.
For those that do not know, I am working on my Master's of Education degree, so that I can someday be a teacher preferably a special needs teacher. In order to do this, I also have to take a few Praxis tests. Six to be exact. I have taken 3, but I still have 3 to go. I had kind of been dragging my feet about taking the last 3 tests. I had all sorts of excuses from I don't graduate till December, so I have time; to the test is just too expensive.
Well, about a week ago, my boss came back to my office with a catalogue for resources for special needs individuals. I get random catalogues at work, but I thought that my boss may have received this; knows I want to work with special needs kids, and then gave it to me. I thanked her, and then I began to look at it. I flipped it over and saw that it was addressed to me at my work. Now, I have never made a search with myself related to my work and special needs individuals. To go one step further, when I worked with special needs kids in Mississippi, I never received any catalogues regarding special needs resources. I really feel that this was one of those moments that God brought me back to what I am working towards. You see, I was using all those excuses plus I have gotten very comfortable in my job. I like my job, and it is a good job to have for the moment. But, God has a bigger plan for me, and receiving that catalogue just further told me what His plan is.
Later that day I was telling my mom what happened, and she said that that morning on her way to work she prayed that God would grant me a teaching job if it was His will. She said that normally she prays that He gives me a teaching job, but that day she prayed differently. I do not think that that prayer was a coincidence.

So, I could have just passed this moment by, and not really thought anything about it, but thank God I didn’t because I would have missed the “Miracle of the Moment”

One Word

So, if you are like me, then you may not be into keeping New Year's Resolutions. I always say that I make internal suggestions to myself, but not really resolutions. About a week ago I was listening to K-Love, and they were talking about My One Word (www.myoneword.org). Instead of making a bunch of resolutions that you may or may not keep, you decide the type of person that you would like to be at the end of the year. You find characteristics of this person, and then you pick one word to describe this person that you want to be at the end of the year. You find books and scripture about this word to help you for the year.
I have chosen the word GENTLE. At times I tend snap at my husband or son for no reason. I may be thinking about something else or not feeling well, but it is my intent to be a gentler person at the end of the year.
Philippians 4:5 says, "Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near." (NIV). The Message says is like this, "Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in Him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you're on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them to see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute."

Brody's songs of choice

I love my kid. But, one of the things that I most love about my kid is the fact that when he sings songs, they are all about the Bible. Let me rephrase, when he makes up songs they are all typically about the Bible. We have had the following songs sung at our house in the last month: "The Table of the Lord"; "The Lord of the Christ"; "The Soul of my God"; and "The Heaven of my God". And, he always says where they come from like a random chapter and verse. Now, these are just random book/chapter and verses that he has heard in Sunday School, but I love it. It shows me that even though sometimes it would be really easy to skip Sunday School when we are running a little late, he is most definantly getting a lot out of it. And, in turn, I am getting a lot out of it as well. Thank you to all of the wonderful Sunday School teachers out there.

This is really just a blog for me to keep up with what all Brody has been saying lately. Grandparents will probably enjoy this one.

~This Christmas he has not wanted to even look at any toys, but what does he want: an Emmy, a football commentator, an apartment building and a teeth whitener.
~He told me that birds fly Santa's sleigh. He said this like duh mom don't you know.
~He loves Sunday School. He picks up random books and says, "what is this children? it is the best book of all."
~He told me that he loved me more than boogers.
~Probably one of my favorites: In one of his nightime prayers he prayed, "Dear heavenly Father be with the Drake and the other bulldogs (imagine him very loudly screaming this next part with arms raised in the air) GO BULLDOGS. In Jesus name, Amen.
~I asked him last night what he wanted Santa to bring him, and he said I don't want him to come in my room.

~He is now a little over 3 feet tall. He loves to play school. He told me he was in the football grade.

Happy Birthday Brody

Here are a few pics of Brody's Birthday festivities. He had a blast. I can't believe that he is two years old already. He weighs 28lbs and is 34.5 inches tall. He loves to read, jump, and play ball. He caught a ball for the first time last week. He is talking in 3 and 4 word sentences. He is making up songs like crazy. The little boys at his child care center are fighting over who loves their mama more. He knows all of his colors. On his little computer he can identify most of the things asked of him. When he say I love you, he only says, "I love"

One cute little story: At the sitter the other day this little boy had a toy spatula and kept hitting Brody on the head with it. Well, the little boy got in trouble but kept doing it. The spatula was taken away and "hidden" After nap the little boy found the spatula. Again, he hit Brody over the head with it. Brody simply took it out of his hand; hit the little boy on the head; and handed the spatula back to the little boy. Needless to say, Brody was not hit on the head again.

Time is flying by. It seems like in the last couple of weeks Brody has just blossomed as far as talking goes. He tries to repeat everything that we say to him. When we drive by one of the local restaurants, he says, "eat." He loves to look at pictures and tell me who everyone is. He loves to wear hats, and he has to have his jacket zipped. He tell me to bip it. He is just so much fun. He says thank you for everything. I love these toddler days. Have a great week.

I love to be able to start a subject line with his name. Things are going great. I can't believe that Brody is 20 months old today. I have attached some pictures of the little guy. He is growing like no bodies business. Only grandparents and other family will probably want to read this post. I wanted to write down all of the things that he is doing now, so that I don't forget them. :)

He runs everywhere. I don't think that he knows how to walk. He has the grace of his mother. (note the sarcasm here) He fell 3 times within an hour last night alone. Once flipped off of the couch. He put a worm in his mouth yesterday. (picture is included). He knows so many words. He comes up with a new word or phrase everyday. He is putting two words together a lot. He is very stubborn, but cute about it. Ms. Val says that that stubornness will turn into standing up for what he believes in later in life. I pray that it does. His laugh is the most special thing that I get to hear. It is contageous. I love it. His smile will melt hearts. He knows a lot of his colors. He has green and blue down. He will repeat all of the colors. When he sits down to eat, he has to name off everyone that is sitting at the table. It doesn't matter where we are. Then he will point to his plate and mommy's plate and daddy's plate. Believe me we do this until everything on the table has been listed off. He loves to swing. He even walks up his slide. He is the strongest thing ever. I mean Samson strength. It is insane.

I can not believe that Brody is almost a year old. He is doing so much. He is dancing and trying to talk up a storm. I am trying to teach him to hold up one finger, but he just takes mine and bites it. He loves to play, and gets really mad when he has to stop to do anything else.

Hello. I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I don't have any pictures to post because I only took one. I know what was I thinking. We had a great Thanksgiving, and of course we went on our annual Black Friday run.
Brody is now 10 months old, and I can't believe it. He is doing so many things. He is walking now. He started that on his 10 month birthday. He is saying mama, and when he puts a phone up to his ear he says hi. He will use anything as a phone: remote control, fake chicken leg, anything.
The videos I posted are of him walking and helping me with the clothes. Now that he is a bi-ped, he loves to see what all he can get into. I hope you enjoy the footage.

9 month report

I can't believe that Brody is now 9 months old. He is doing so much stuff. He is into everything. He is almost wanting to take a step. We went to the doctor yesterday for his check-up. He is doing really well. He weighs 21 lbs 10 ozs (75%). He is 291/2 inches long (90%), and his head circumference is in the 97%. I hope you enjoy the video. I can not get enough of this laugh.

Engagement News

Exciting News. Michael and Britni are engaged. Michael is my cousin. They are getting married June 6th.

Jen and Joe are engaged. Jen is Bryan's sister for those that do not know. They plan on getting married June 27th.

So, June at our house is going to be insanely busy. At least they are not back to back. :)

I am so happy for both of them. Congratulations and love to you all.

Halloween Happenings

Happy Halloween everybody. We had a great Halloween. I only wish that Bryan was able to come Trunk or Treating with us. He had a football game that night. We had about three weekends of Halloween fun. It started with a hayride at Nana and Granddaddy's house. I forgot my camera, so I don't have any pics from that night. It was a lot of fun. Ms. Val and Kara did a great job. Then the next weekend we went to Cedar Hill Farms. Then it was Halloween Weekend. We had a party at work, and then we went to see Daddy. We had trunk or treating at church. It was an awesome turn out.

This is not the greatest picture in the world, but I wanted to get a picture of him on the day his teeth arrived. The bottom two came in at the exact same time. Bless his little heart. Just the tops are in. His gums on the top are swollen in four places, so others are not far behind.
I can't believe that he is 8 months old, and will be nine months old next week. He is really moving around a lot. He is standing by himself for a long time. He is even standing from a sitting position without holding on to anything. He is still really surprised when he does this. I project that he will be walking before Thanksgiving.

I don't know why the next two pictures are so small. Carol took these when we went to visit her in Oxford. He loved being in the pumpkins.

Good afternoon everyone. I hope that y'all are all having a great day. I have been really bad at blogging lately. Sorry about that. I can't believe that Brody is going to be 8 months old next week. Time is going by too quickly.

He is crawling around like crazy. He follows me into every room that I go into. He is too cute. He is also clapping, and waving bye-bye at everything. When we leave in the mornings, he waves at the furniture. He is too precious.

These pictures are from the park. He loved to swing. His favorite was laying back and swinging with Mema.

These pictures are from a couple of saturdays ago. I put right in the middle of the sweet potato fields and he loved it.

Six Months and Counting

Hello Eveyone,

I can't believe that my baby is six months old. I probably said that in the last post. At his six month check up he weighed in at 18lbs 8ozs, and is 26 3/4 inches long. He is in the 75th% for weight and height. His head circumference is 46cm. Holy Cow!! He is in the 95th% for head circumference. He started getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. I really need to get a baby gate. :)

This is his new favorite place to be. A laundry basket.

I just thought that I would send a little quick hello from the six month old boy. I can not believe that he is six months old. He loves to eat. Loves it. Starts pitching a fit when the jar of food is empty. He loves to play peek-a-boo. He is sitting really well. We are starting to work on drinking out of a sippy cup. He is not too sure about that yet. He loves to give hugs.

This weekend we went with my mom and dad to the zoo. Brody loved it. He loves to be outside, so he had a great time.

Hey Everyone,

I don't really have much to post. Brody is now 5 months old. I can't believe how much the time has flown by. He started to eat his toes last night. Too cute. He slept in his crib for the first time Saturday night. He did pretty well until his teeth started to bother him, and then he was up for three hours. Sunday night he slept through the night. Woo-hoo. Last night, he put himself to sleep. It only took him about 5 minutes, and he didn't even cry.

He also has started eating real food. He loves sweet potatoes. Tomorrow night we are trying carrots, so we will see how that goes.

Prayers for Brecken

I just wanted to ask for prayers for a little girl named Brecken. Brecken is due October 20th. The Hicks family lost a little girl in August, and now they are facing another challenge. Their little girl Brecken's kidney's are do not look good. Their dr. said that it could be one of three things, 1. her kidneys look weird and that is how they are supposed to look and she will be fine; 2. her kidneys will shut down and start to fail or 3. she has polycystic kidney disease. This is what their doctor stressed the most. They are supposed to go back in 8 weeks for another ultrasound to see what is going on. Please pray for a complete healing for Brecken. Thank you so much.

Happy Father's Day

I hope that you all had a great Father's Day. We had a great weekend. It all started on Saturday night with a little trip to K&N in Martin for some frosted mug root beer. Brody was stylin in his baseball gear.

We went to church and then to my in-laws for some wonderful steak and chicken. I realized at the end of the night that I forgot to take any of Bryan and his dad on Father's day. Here is a picture of Mr. Ken and Brody from when Brody was born.

While we were at Mr. Ken and Ms. Val's, Brody got in the pool for the first time. He didn't really know what to think of it at first, but once he was in his floaty, he loved it.

4 Month Old Update

I can not believe that Brody is already 4 months old. Can you believe it? It is crazy how time flies. He will be 19 weeks tomorrow. Some of the things that he is doing is rolling over (once); scooting (a little); loving his cereal (as you can tell from the picture). He loves to talk to you, and sit up. He is almost able to sit up on his own, and he loves to stand. He loves his jumperoo and sunglasses. I am trying to record all these wonderful memories, so that I won't forget them.

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Nashville for the day with my mom and dad. We went to the Loveless Cafe for Breakfast. As you can see from the pictures, Brody really enjoyed it. :)

We then went to Franklin. It is such a beautiful town. We had a great time walking around the town.

We then went to Leipers Fork. We loved it. There were motorcycles there and every time one would go by Brody would follow it with his eyes. As you can tell, the boys loved it Leipers Fork too. :)

Happy Mother's Day

I hope all of you moms out there had a wonderful mothers day. Sorry I am a little late in posting. I am so blessed to have wonderful examples of mothers in my life. My mama has always been a great strength and support to me. I am also grateful to have a great, caring mother-in-law. I had a great first mother's day. My mom and dad came up for the weekend. Bryan got me the sweetest card from him, and he also picked out one from Brody. They gave me a Lowes gift card. That is mine and Bryan's favorite store. We went to church that morning, and mom was able to see Brody in Sunday school. He loves Sunday school, until he is ready to eat. Fortunately the kids snack time are just about the same time Brody likes to eat. Here are a few pictures from Mother's Day.

Catching Up

Woo, I have a lot to post. This is the first time in over a week that I have turned on my computer. Last week was crazy. I was sick; Brody was sick; and we had to go to Memphis for his post-op appointment. Dr. Williams said that he is healing great. You can't even really see the incision site. Brody did awesome after the surgery. He is a tough little guy, and very happy baby.

Last Monday, I started cereal at night. He kept waking up in the middle of the night with his little tummy just growling. Needless to say he loved it.

After Brody's appointment on Thursday, we went to see my mom at work. I think that Brody thinks Mema works too hard.

We spent that night at my mom and dad's house. We going to come back to McKenzie on Friday afternoon, but that is when the storms and tornando warnings hit. From this picture you can see that we were ready. The only space for us to get was in the bathtub. Notice the fudge brownies on the sink.

Saturday, we went to see our Jen Jen graduate from Lipscomb University with a BS in Nursing. We are so proud of her. She will leaving in Nashville and working at the Nashville fertility clinic. Brody did not make the trip. His Mema and Poppy kept him.

Surgery is Over

I just wanted to say thank you so much for praying for Brody. His surgery went very well. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to perform the surgery. He was away from us for about 3 hours though. That was the longest 3 hours of my life. His doctors and nurses were wonderful. We only has a couple of scares with his blood pressure going up really high and he kept throwing up. He got over the bp issue pretty quickly, and the next day he started keeping food down. I have a very tough little boy. On Tuesday, we didn't know if we were going to be able to go home because he wasn't eating and when he ate would not keep it down. Well, about 1:30 he was laying on the bed and started to cry a little. My mom picked him up and bounced him to sleep. A little while after that his IV started to beep. The nurse came in and checked it, and she said that she was going to have to redo something. I told that he had kept two bottles down, so she called the doctor to see if Brody still needed the IV. She came back and not only did Brody not need the IV she had discharge orders. She came back in about an hour later to take out the IV. She looked at it and said, "I have never seen this before. He took out his own IV." We couldn't believe it. There wasn't even any blood. We wondered why he cried a little. Now we know. He just wanted to go home. Thank you again for your prayers.

Mommy and Brody hunkered down for the night. I am very relieved in this picture that his blood pressure is down.

This is pic is really funny because he is asleep, but keeping one eye on us. I guess he was making sure that we didn't let them do anything else to him.

The sweetest sound

The sweetest sound I have ever heard is my baby laughing. He laughed for the first time today. He has this giarffe toy that he simply loves. You put balls in it and the giarffe laughs. I didn't even catch that he was laughing at first, but then he chuckled. I mean he chuckled. It was so awesome. He also sat up for about 2 to 3 seconds. He is getting so strong. I just had to post this. I am going to try and capture it on video as soon as I can. I am going to try and figure out how to post videos on here. We will see how that one works out. :)

Two Month Check-Up

Today was Brody's two month check-up. He will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. I can not believe it. These last 10 weeks have flown by. I didn't realize just how much fun I was going to have. He does something new every day. I wanted to write some things down that he is doing, so that I don't forget them.
He is holding his head up pretty much all the time now. He does not like tummy time, so he lifts his head up pretty quickly so that I will roll him to his back. He is cooing and smiling all the time. He wakes up smiling. He loves to look at himself in the mirror. I bathe him in his tub at the kitchen sink, and he loves to look at his reflection in the window. This may not be a good thing as he gets older.:) He loves loves loves his bath time. I leave him in the bath as long as I can. He is purposefully reaching out for objects. He is almost about to laugh. Sometimes, the only way to calm him down is with the vacuum or hair dryer. He is not fussy much, but when he is this helps to calm him if he is not hungry or needs to be changed. It doesn't take a long time to calm either. He is sleeping through the night from about 9:30 to 6:30 which is amazing. He loves to ride in the car, and he loves his giraffe toy. I know that there is much more that he is doing, but I can't think of them right now.
He had a great two month check-up. Dr. Smith said that he is doing great. She also said that in her 20 years of being a peditrician, she has never had a patient with a patent urachus. I told her that we just like to be special. :) She kept laughing at Brody during the exam because he just kept looking up at her and smiling. He is a little flirt. He weighed 12lbs 12ozs (75th%); is 23 3/6" long (75th%); and his head circum. is 41 1/2cm (75th-90th%). She said that he is going to be tall.
When the nurse gave him his first shot, he looked over at me a furrowed his eyebrows. If he could talk, I think he would have said, "What are you letting this woman do to me?" He then had a delayed whimper. Second shot, he didn't cry at all, but the third shot he screamed. But, he only cried for a few seconds, and then he was over it. He has done really well tonight.

Surgery date set

Hello all. The surgery date has been set for April 21st. They will keep in overnight just to make sure that he does ok with the anethesia. Thank you again for your prayers.

We finally got to meet Hudson Green. His daddy Kelly and Bryan went to FHU together. We were able to go over to Kelly and Karie's today and see them. Hudson was born two weeks after Brody.

Brody Update

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all so much for praying. The VCUG went ok today. It was not as bad as I had built it up to be. It was bad, but not that bad. The x-rays did not show any bladder anomalies which is wonderful. It also did not show reflux back into the urachus. He still has a urachal remnant, but it does not appear to be as bad as they once thought. Praise God. He will still need surgery, but they are going to wait until he is three months old for that. Dr. Williams does not want to do it now. He feels that he will do better with the anethesia if is a little older. The surgery will only require one day in the hospital too. Thank you again for praying. We truly felt all of the prayers going up.

Brody update

Hello Everyone,

I first want to thank everyone for your prayers. I know that during the doctors appointment today many prayers were going up because I was calm. And, Brody did not cry at all while the doctor was doing the exam and the ultrasound. He is such a good baby.
The doctor stated that Brody could have one of the three things: 1. an urachal cyst, 2. Urachal sinus or a 3. Patent urachus. After the ultrasound he feels that it is a patent urachus. From what I understand the urachus (tube going from umbilical cord to bladder) fails to close at birth. Apparently we all have one. I had no idea. We are going back next Monday the 31st for a VCUG xray. This is where they run a catheter to the bladder; fill the bladder with liquid and take xrays. Brody will not be sedated during this test. It should take about 30 minutes. Thankfully, Bryan and I can be with him during the test to keep him as calm as possible. After the xray, we will then see Dr. Williams again. He will see if in fact Brody does have a patent urachus or one of the other things. They are fixable, but with surgery. There are no adverse side effects from this. From what I understand once it fixed it is fixed. I am not sure how long or if he will have to stay in the hospital.
I will keep everyone updated. Again, I thank you so much for the prayers that are being lifted up for us. I can feel the power of prayer surrounding us.

Easter

My family loves Easter. It is kind of like our time to chill and relax and just be with family. It is mine and my mom's favorite holiday. I love that Brody's first major holiday was Easter. The Nana and Grandaddy bunny came to see Brody a couple of days early. They gave him his basket with his name on it and other goodies. The Mema and Poppy bunny showed up Easter morning. They gave him a baby praise dvd and money. His basket they used was my first basket. The Easter bunny brought Brody a barn, books, money eggs and clothes. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Hello,
I have the actual name of what they think Brody has. It is called a persistent urachal remnant. I was still a little shell shocked yesterday when I wrote the first post. Sorry about that. From what I have read this is also called a urachal cyst. They are rare and usually asymptomatic until they become infected. They can be corrected with surgery. Brody Smiles/Prayers

I finally was able to get a pictur of Brody smiling. He has been smiling for about a week now, but I was only able to get it in a picture yesterday.
Please pray for the little guy. Monday we meet with a pediatric urologist (sp). The pediatrician thinks that he possibly has a persistent ureteral remnant. We will know more on Monday. Monday will be a crazy day of tests. Thank you so much for your prayers.

A Couple of Firsts

We experienced a couple of firsts this past week. Bryan's girls basketball team made it the state tournament, so Brody and I headed to Mema and Poppy's house. The girls made it all the way to the final four. We are so proud of them and what the accomplised this year. Go Lady Red Devils!!! We missed Bryan very much. That was the longest that Bryan and I much less Bryan and Brody have been apart.
While at my mom and dads, Brody took his first tub bath. His umbilical cord fell off when he was 4 weeks old. I thought he was going to go to school with that thing. But, thankfully it fell off. As you can see from the pictures, he did not like it at first, but then he warmed up to it. He now likes it so much that when you take him out, he crys.
Then Brody saw his first snow. He really didn't know what was going on, but I know that by this time next year, he will love it.

Nashville Trip and First Sunday at Church

Hello everyone. I have not posted this much ever. Crazy. This past week Brody and I joined Bryan in Nashville where he was attending a conference. It was so good to get away, and it was really great to spend that time with Bryan. Brody was of awesome during the whole trip. We went to Jen Jen's house (Bryan's sister), and went to the mall.
This Sunday was our first Sunday to go to church. I didn't even attempt Sunday school. :)
We are going to my mom and dad's this week, because Bryan's team made it to the state championship. They are so excited, and I am really proud of them.

Brody is Three Weeks old

Ok, so I can not believe that just three weeks ago they were preparing me mentally for possibly having to have a C-section. Crazy how the time goes by. I thought that I would share Brody's birth story. Bright and early at 5am, we were at Methodist Germantown. Well, I guess you could say it was early. No sun yet at 5am. It was just icy and snowy. They started the pitocin around 6:30am, and around 6:50 I started feeling contractions in my low back. These were not bad, just uncomfortable. Then around 7:30 or 8 Dr. Tinker came in to break my water. Ok, for all of those that have to have this done, I feel your pain. He could not completely break my water because Brody was still so high, but he was able to puncture it. Anyway, and thankfully he did not have to come back in to break my water anymore. I kicked everyone out around 10, and it was just Bryan and me. At 11:30, I had had enough and wanted the wonderful drugs. They came in around 12 and by 12:30 I was feeling no pain. Then my wonderful weird body had all of the side effects that one can have from the epidural. Throw-up check, almost passing out and blood pressure going to 90/40 check, heart rate staying at 130 check. Around 3 I started running a fever. I never run fever, so this was pretty shocking to me. They checked me and I was still at 4 1/2cm. I had not dilated anymore in hours. This wonderful nurse started preparing me for what could possibly happen. She was really great. All of my nurses were, but she was very good. They started to administer antibiotics around 4:30. They checked about an hour later and still no progress and my fever had gone up. Dr. Tinker called me around 6 or 6:30 to explain that it was the safest thing to go ahead and do the c-section. How many doctors call their patients when they are at their sons basketball game?. He is wonderful. Anyway, one of his partners Dr. Bannister came in around 7:30, and said that it was just not healthy and that the baby nor I could take it anymore. By this time my heartrate had been in the 130s for about 8 hours and Brody's had been in the upper 100s spiking to 225 on occasion. So, they prepped me and whisked me away to have the C-section. Thankfully, Brody was born healthy and everyone was fine. They did have to take him to the NICU because he was running a fever and his color did not look so good. He also wasnt giving them strong enough crys. For precaution, they kept him on antibiotics until the day that we got to come home. They had to administer these by IV. Poor little guy. I'm glad he won't remember any of that.
He is a very healthy bouncing baby. He has been starting to give me little smiles, and he is starting to really recognize voices other than mine. He loves music. One of his favorite songs is "I go out walking after midnight" by Patsy Cline. He could be crying up a storm, but when I start to sing that song, he stops. Crazy Kid.

Brody's First Doctors Visit

We go back Thursday for his first official doctors appointment. Things have been going really well. Just getting used to everything. It is a wonderful journey.

I just wanted to send a thank you out to the ladies at the Gleason Methodist Church. They gave me a wonderful baby tea on Sunday, even though I was not able to be there. Thank you also to my mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and niece for filling in for me.
Friday night (1-18) the doctor had me come to the hospital because my blood pressure just wouldn't cooperate. By the time we got all the way to Memphis, it had come down some. They ran all the tests, and I was fine. Thank goodness. They sent me home but said that I couldn't do anything or go anywhere. So, pretty much I was on house arrest until my doctor's appointment this past Monday the 21st. Dr. Tinker said that everything looked good, and that at this stage of the game, my bp was going to be up. He doesn't want to see me again until I go in Thursday the 31st to be induced.
I can't believe that in 7 days I am going to be a mom. I can't wait.

McKenzie Baby Tea

This weekend was jam packed with wonderful events. My mom, aunts and cousins came up for our baby tea at the McKenzie Church of Christ. They came up Saturday and stayed through Sunday. We played games and had a great time. We haven't gotten together like that in a long time.
Sunday, the McKenzie Church of Christ gave us a wonderful shower. Bryan and I are so blessed to be apart of such a wonderful church. The pictures above are from this wonderful weekend.
If my doctor induces the 39th week, we only have 2 1/2 weeks left until Brody is here. I can't believe it.

3 weeks and counting

Nursery in Progress

Here is the nursery in progress. We are almost finished. My mom painted the nursery, and the granddads and Bryan put the crib together. Ms. Val and Jen and Kenady came over also and helped out.

I hope that you all had a great Christmas. I know we sure did. It started Saturday, December 22 at my cousin Shana's house.
My cousin Kayla and I wore the same outfit. This was not planned.

On Christmas Eve we went to Bryan's Aunt Deb's for breakfast. We then went to Mr. Ken and Ms. Val's to have Christmas with Bryan's parents and sisters.

We then spent Christmas Eve at Bryan's Aunt Kay's house for supper.

Ok, so I just read my blog, and realized that in the last post about my baby shower I already mentioned being induced. I have no memory left. The other day I told my boss that I am going to start walking around with post its on my forehead, so that they can just read the note and let me know why I needed to see them or be in their office. Oh-well. It will all be worth it.

Christmas Time is Here

Ok. So, most everyone knows that I am a huge fan of the fall. But, I also love Christmas, and this year I have really gotten into it. I think it is because I haven't seen my decorations for the past two years. That could be one reason. It is still a little odd to me that this time next year I will have a 10 month old running well crawling around.
The latest with Brody is that Dr. Tinker plans on inducing at 39 weeks. Because I am two hours from the hospital, he does not want to take any chances. That is all fine by me, so the last week in January we will be having a baby boy. I have my 32 week appointment tomorrow. Only one more appointment before he starts seeing me every week. It is going to fly by.

First Baby Shower

Here are a couple of pictures from my first baby shower. The admissions staff at Bethel College gave me this shower. I had to take the pictures with my phone, so some of them look a little blue. My friend Kim made the cakes. It was really fun to see all of the cool stuff that we get to play with.
My last doctors appointment went well. I am now at 30 weeks. Because we live two hours from the hospital, my doctor wants to induce at 39 weeks. I have a feeling that he will induce me Tuesday, Jan. 29th. So, only 9 weeks and counting. I am a little anxious, but most of all I am so excited to see him, and to see what he looks like and to hold him. I can't wait to hold him. Anyway, I will try and update as much as I can.

Just an Update

I really don't like this picture, but some people were wanting to know what I looked like pregnant. This one is the only one that I have right now. If you can believe it, my belly has grown even more since Halloween. I am now 28 weeks. I can't believe that in 12 short weeks, Brody will be here. That is just too insane for me. We are very excited.
Nothing much else has been going on. Basketball season is in full swing, so I don't see Bryan much at all. He absolutely loves coaching, and the coach that he assists is great. Bryan is learning so much from him. My travel season came to a close yesterday, thank goodness. I will be able to be in the office for now.
During the holidays I will try and post more. I have not been the best blogger friend. :)

Hello Everyone,

This is really nothing important. I just wanted to update on how things are going in the Sanders Family. We have been pretty busy the last month. Bryan started school last week, and he absolutely loves teaching at Bradford. He says that this is going to be a great year. I have just been looking for jobs, and I had an interview last week.
The baby is growing and just doing wonderful. I had an appointment last week, and the heartbeat was a good strong 145 beats. We find out next month what we are having. I can't wait.
My parents and my in-laws have been busy helping us. I don't think that I could thank them all enough. My parents have been working at our house in Southaven. It is on the market, so if you know anyone who wants a great house, please let me know. My in-laws have been painting and cleaning up our house in McKenzie, so that we can move in. We move in this Saturday. I can't wait. I will post pictures when things get finished.

Prayers Please

I posted about this family before, but wanted to give you an update. A couple of months ago I posted about baby Janey. Her parents just found out that she had anencephaly which is a birth defect that affects the brain. When a child is born with anencephaly they only live about an hour or less. Baby Janey was born last night. She lived about an hour. All of her family was able to hold her and love on her. Please keep this family in your prayers. I tried to attach their blog link, but I don't really know how to do that kind of stuff, so I hope it works. I hope that everyone has a blessed day.

First Baby Picture!!!!!!

Here is the first picture of our precious baby. I had my 10 week doctors appointment yesterday. He tried to hear the heartbeat through his doppler, but the wouldn't cooperate. Good little kid. He/She knew his/her mommy would really see and hear it. So,we were able to see it and hear the heartbeat. It was the most amazing thing that I have ever seen in my life. It was wiggling around and kicking it's legs. So, So precious.

Ok, so I really wish I had a picture to post on here, but my just telling you will have to do. After almost two years, I am finally pregnant. Our precious bundle of joy from God will make his/her grand entrance into the world in February. We are so excited. Please pray everything will go well with the baby. Thank you.

Anyway, Ethan's bone marrow asperate came back today with ZERO cells. Which means no good cells and no bad cells. That is amazing.!!!!!!!

St. Louis Trip

Wow, I really haven't posted in a while. Hopefully, I will do better now. Bryan and I were able to spend a wonderful couple of days in St. Louis before we got to our summer jobs. Here are just a few pics.

Prayers Needed

I hope that this blog finds you all having blessed a week. I have a prayer request for all who are reading this. I was on Baby Max's site, and saw a new baby on the prayer list. Her name is Janey. At her mom's ob visit (to see the sex of the baby) they found out that she has anencephaly. My family was touched by this birth defect 25 years ago. My sister, Emily Kay, had anencephaly. She was born and died on Sept 17, 1982.
Please pray for this sweet family. They are having to make choices that they never thought they would ever have to make during the rest of the pregnancy and birth. Janey is due Sept. 17, 2007.
